Greater Rochester Iris Society
For gardeners interested in these beautiful and versatile perennials.
|
A reliable flowering perennial, the iris has captured the attention of many gardeners. As years go by, hybrids are introduced that offer new color, heights, textures, and blooming periods. Whether you are new to the subject, or are involved with bearded, siberian, japanese; or re-bloomers! - an area group has been formed to help us share our interests.
During 1999, organizational meetings were held for a Rochester-area society. We have had the assistance of key figures in the Western NY Iris Society from Erie county. Now the Greater Rochester Iris Society is in place. GRIS is an affiliate of the American Iris Society, and provides events for gardeners in Rochester and surrounding counties. Our iris sale in Rochester each summer is very popular!
There are several meetings scheduled at 2 month intervals. We welcome any and all to attend, and guide the course of this group. Membership information will be available at each meeting. Of course, American Iris Society (AIS) members are welcome to this affiliate group.
