Past ProgramsRan Lydell, hosta hybridizer and owner of Eagle Bay Nursery and Gardens in Dunkirk, NY, presented a program on Leading Advances in Hosta Flowers. Ran’s 20 + years of extensive work in hybridizing has produced recent introductions such as Hosta ‘Breakers’, ‘Breathless’, and ‘Oh My Heart’ that are on the cutting edge.A program, titled Getting Your Hostas Ready to Show featured a return visit by Kent Terpening. Kent used several hosta plants to demonstrate the selection and preparation of a leaf for entry in a show. Kent admits he enters a show to win awards, and also notes for the viewing public the educational value of increasing awareness of just some of the possibilities the world of hosta has to offer. |
